Al-Ameen College Announcement of New Principal

As you are aware, the College Board has undertaken an extensive process for the recruitment, selection and appointment of a Principal to lead the school in the next phase of our strategic development. This process has now been completed and the Board is pleased to announce that the next Principal of Al-Ameen College is Mr Mohamed Elbotaty BCom, BTeach(Sec), MEd, ATL.

Mr Elbotaty is a father of four children and was born and raised in Sydney, NSW. He has always had a passion for serving the community, and particularly supports our Muslim youth to love their faith and develop their identity as Australian Muslims who contribute to their local and global communities.

Mr Elbotaty has wide educational experience in teaching and leadership across a number of Australian and international schools. He has taught humanities subjects in the contexts of the Australian Curriculum, American Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP). Mr Elbotaty served as a director of an Islamic school in Sydney, and has worked in an executive leadership role for most of the past decade. He has managed the IBDP and K-12 curriculum in a multi-campus Islamic international school in Kuwait, with over 5,000 students, and also chairs accreditation teams for the evaluation of international schools. Mr Elbotaty holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Sydney, a Bachelor of Teaching from Charles Sturt University, a Master of Educational Leadership from Charles Sturt University, and is currently completing his PhD in Education in the area of Curriculum Theory & Pedagogy at Curtin University. His thesis explores the value of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) in providing students with the academic and non-academic skills to successfully transition and succeed at international universities.

Mr Elbotaty will commence as Principal of Langford Islamic College in January 2021.

The Board would also like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Popie Rhaman for her commitment and leadership of the College over the past decade. We wish Dr Rhaman all the best in her future endeavours.

We look forward to welcoming Mr Elbotaty to the Al-Ameen College family and wish him well as he takes up his new role.

Thank you.
